Product Protection Systems
These systems are designed to prevent and deter theft, ensuring effective protection of merchandise.
An EAS system consists of detection antennas (sensors) installed at store exits, security tags or labels attached to products, and deactivation or detaching devices located at checkout points. The transmitter sends a unique frequency signal that is continuously monitored by the receiver antennas.
When an active security tag passes through the detection zone without being properly deactivated or removed at the checkout, the system triggers an audible and visual alarm, immediately alerting store personnel to a potential theft attempt.
EAS systems can be installed in:
-
Dual Antenna Configuration (Separate Transmitter and Receiver)
-
Mono Antenna Configuration (Combined Transmitter/Receiver)
Security tags are safely removed or deactivated at the point of sale using dedicated tools, ensuring seamless customer exit without false alarms.
Importance of Product Protection Systems
Retail businesses account for theft-related losses as a significant operational cost. Without adequate security measures, these losses tend to increase steadily. For this reason, especially large retail chains include EAS system investments as part of their initial store setup costs.
Although product protection systems may seem like an additional expense initially, they quickly pay for themselves by significantly reducing shrinkage and theft-related losses. Moreover, a visible and effective security system discourages repeat theft attempts and strengthens overall store security.
